  An American friend of mine recently caused a car accident that damaged the other vehicle and caused that driver a minor injury. Together they first went to the barangay hall, agreed on a settlement, then went to PNP for formal documentation. That document even says, "They worked out an amicable settlement," which you can often see on PNP reports and Facebook posts. (Now through my friend's experience I know what that phrase truly means.) Anyway, the settlement was the most rational, mutually beneficial deal I've ever seen. It was a tiny fraction of a US insurance settlement, and no lawsuit. Everybody left happy. Kudos to the barangay captain for brokering a quick and positive deal.

  Great video, liked & subscribed. Considering joining now. I'm starting my fifth month here in the Philippines. I'm living in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental. It's a small, tightly knit city and it's very clear to me—as per your advice—how important this relationship is. While watching your video, I got on Google Earth and located my Barangay Hall. I will be visiting there early next week, with my friend and landlord, to introduce myself. I am a retired LEO and my family back in the United States taught me the value of these kinds of relationships. Thanks for the video!!

  I&apos;m German and 59 years old. Living in a small town in Eastern Samar for two years. I got a Problem with an German expat and His Filipina Wife. Because of buying a used motorcyle from him. He was wealthy. Pensioned German Police officer. Criminal investigator. Long Story short. The Filipina Wife tried to kiddy me by the Motor Deal. So I go to barangay Captain. My Filipina gf introduce me. After that. She was going with me to Chief of Policenstation. A Cousin of her. To Talk.<br>I as going to the barangay trial appointment together with this Police officer. He helped me.<br>After that. I got my money from the wife of the German expat. All was done and okay. Positive experiences.<br>Ok...my gf is a high respected Person in that little town. May...that helps a lot.

  The advice, &quot;Introduce yourself early rather than introducing yourself only when you&apos;re already in a conflict,&quot; was the most helpful. Everything he said was accurate and valuable, but that particular point can save you from a lot of problems.

  Good informational advise, but never-the-less ONLY advice. &nbsp;What you tell expats is not a law in the Philippines. &nbsp;Immigration does not require what you indicate to introduce yourself and bring along something and give it to them in their office. Live in Metro Manila in an barangay that has thousands upon thousands of residents and their time is limited and not as accessible as you think it is.

  Thank you very much for this very informative video. &nbsp;This is the most important thing an expat needs to know as they settle into the barangay residence. &nbsp;I had to learn this the hard way. Everyone, listen to what this man has to say if you are an expat living here in the Philippines.
