  Having used a spear in combat myself, larp foam spear but a spear regardless, i definitely would agree. Spear is king

  The wings are less about worrying enemies will come closer to attack you while already impailed like some kind of zombie or orc, and more about making it easier to retract the spear and avoid having a guy you impailed fall over and rip your weapon out of your hand.<br><br>It can keep certain &quot;enemies&quot; at distance but I think that&apos;s more in a hunting context when you wanna pin a bear or a boar and hold them while others try to finish them off.

  I&apos;ve always wondered if something like a Hungarian shield would be better and then I saw the belted Viking shield over the back for the first time on this video. &nbsp;I think they were onto something there.

  Stabby stick = good. &nbsp;Which is why 1-handed spear and shield we so dominant in the ancient world, especially in a shield wall/phalanx.
