  Some people are just not mechanically inclined, they are great with electronics, but mechanical things are a completely different mindset. Older mechanics are the guys that excel fixing these turntables.

  Fig.11 Fig.13 Fig.14 in the service manual. These measurements are crucial. And a pain in the arse to get dialed in. But I would bet that’s all this needs.

  I give you credit for attempting.  For me, these are easy to work on.  The 1219 I have has been in my family since brand new around 1970 and it stopped working around 2000!  I got ambitious and started tinkering with it around 2020 and just kept at it off an on and got it all figured out shortly after the pandemic ended as my stereo tech mentored me through some last bits that had me a bit puzzled. After that, he had me work on a few of them for his customers! I've always been mechanically inclined and I enjoy figuring out the engineering.  Bummer's you didn't keep at it to make a part 2 video.

  For those who ended up in this video looking for solution for problems like this, the first thing to check for is the steuerpimpel, it the little rubber under the glider pad that moves the tonearm, second is the rubber bushing that holds two metal ball bearing that control the single and multi play lever, that rubber bushing is under the tone arm base after 50 plus years they are rock hard relics by now. Clean hardened grease and relube with lithium grease.

  I repair about one of these Duals a week for an Audio Shop in the Northeast. I find the place to start to save time is the main plastic cam. Reason is five things have to come off to get the cam off. All of those need degrease too. If you do others first you will end up removing things two and three times to eventually clean the cam. My rule now to do Duals the right way is : everything on a Dual that either moves, slides, pivots, rotates whatever gets cleaned. You’ll be surprised how many potential problems are solved that would not have been if you try to skip stuff.

  change the wire harness as it is imperative that the wires be upgraded as well, important restore portion.....

  I had the exact same problem and it was driving me absolutely crazy for almost two weeks.<br><br>Today I finally found the cause and it completely fixed my automatic issues:<br><br>If you look from the Steuerpimpel toward the back of the tonearm, there’s a part called the single/multi mode ball bearing. In my case, the little plastic ring around it was broken.<br><br>I only noticed it today. Just to test it, I wrapped a small zip tie around it to hold it together – and boom, the automatic mechanism started working perfectly again.<br><br>I’m seriously so happy it works now. At one point I was pretty close to throwing the turntable out the window 😂<br><br>Cheers<br>Thomas

  La pièce en plastique que vous essayez de mettre au bout du levier va en fait sous le lève-bras &nbsp;, il y manque une pièce pour que les 2 parties se touchent, comme sur toutes les dual de cette période

  I&apos;m working on a Dual 1219 and it appears the return &apos;dog&apos; is out of place and looks slightly bent. &nbsp;So, end of record sometimes works, sometimes doesn&apos;t and it appears the dog is bent a bit and no seat in the cam slot.<br><br>I do have a spare parts deck with a cam gear that looks just fine. &nbsp;Is there a step by step video or guide to removing the cam gear?

  I have a 1219, and was wondering if I could swap out the post spindle for the short nub style? &nbsp;Are they available?<br>I don’t ever plan on stacking multiple records at a time on this.
