The Eagles first album was a hit. The second album didn't sell as well. Country Rock was fading out. Joe Walsh was already an established rock star and a friend of the Eagles. He joined the band and helped guide them into mainstream rock.

One of the best live performances of them ever caught on video. Near perfection! The members of the band here were Don Henley on drums and vocals, Glenn Frey on acoustic guitar, Randy Meisner on bass, Don Felder on double-neck Gibson, and Joe Walsh on Fender Telecaster.

The famous line “you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave” captures the idea that even if you walk away physically, the experience and its impact stays with you forever. At a deeper level, it’s also a commentary on consumer culture and how chasing pleasure and status can turn into a kind of self-made prison.
