  Remember, this is NOT a Queem concert, it’s Live Aid. Many bands played, so a good % of the fans came to see someone else.  Yet, EVERYONE knew the songs, lyrics and got completely into it. Amazing!

  Every band had 20 minutes. Queen rehearsed for a week with big clocks in front of them, to hone their set down to the second. Freddie had a throat infection and had been advised by his doctor not to perform -- what you just saw and heard was Freddie on a bad day. Now you know why this set is considered to be the best live rock performance of all time.

  No massive  lightshow or pyrotechnics, no costume changes, backup dancers or autotune.  Just four masterful musicians practicing their craft and 40 years later still blowing people's minds.

  I was 18 years old when this happened. I was stationed in Germany with the US Army at the time and I had tickets to go. In March 1985, I was transferred to Ft. Knox, Kentucky. I immediately put in for 2 week's leave to make sure I could attend the concert. Fortunately, my commanding officer granted me the leave request. Three days before the concert, I caught a military hop to London. Most epically enjoyable time in my life...being 50 feet from the stage!

  One thing to remember no-one bought a ticket to see Queen. All tickets were sold before queen joined the show but within 1 song they were all queen fans. 1 billion saw this show on TV.

  70,000 people in a stadium, millions watching on TV £150million raised for charity (eye watering money at the time). All for strangers starving on another continent. How mighty we were once.
