  The problem with players adopting a &quot;MY PRECIOUS THINGS MUST NEVER BREAK&quot; mindset is entirely the devs&apos; own doing, and it&apos;s not the fault of Mending. It&apos;s the fault of the ANVIL and the prior work penalty. The fact that the path to the &quot;best&quot; tools requires a large amount of effort and delicate know-how means people don&apos;t want to lose all that progress when their tool breaks. On the other hand, if people could repair their Unbreaking IV, Efficiency IV pick with spare diamonds without worrying about inflating some hidden stat that will forever screw over the future of that specific tool, then they wouldn&apos;t feel the need to seek out Mending so singlemindedly.

  The fact that you simply cannot walk on the farmland without shift or it will turn into dirt... I remember cutting down forests worth of wood just to put fences underneath my fields

  For me the worst part about beta is despawning animals. I love animal husbandry in video games and i like roleplaying as a farmer. I always build stables and pastures for my Minecraft animals, I make sure they are protected from elements and have access to hay and water. And I was so sad when I discovered that animals disappear in beta. It also makes getting colored wool so annoying :(

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSJeZ2deEng&amp;t=1397">23:17</a> as a gamedev myself you would be surprised how easy it is to let stuff like this slip under the radar. It seems very obvious and annoying to players but if you are spending all your time developing and not playing the game yourself it can be easy to miss stuff like this. It usually pops up from copy/pasting old code or weird technical limitations that you havent gotten around to fixing yet (for the oak slab and stairs, its because internally they are just stone with a different metadata flag. And i am assuming there was no way to give them different mining speeds based on that yet. ) I often forget to add crafting recipes. And one version I added a new tier of armour but forgot to change the recipe so you could make it with the wrong ingots. I would imagine for notch at this time it was stuff he knew about but fixed over time, and those fixes just happened to be after b.1.7.3

  To me the worst thing about Beta is how animal spawning and despawning mechanics work.<br>One of my core memories in 1.7.3 was when a chicken somehow found its way down my mine and into my storage room.<br>At first I was so happy about it, and wanted to have him stay here, as a &quot;mascot&quot; of some sorts.<br>I knew mobs despawn so I tried to put him in a minecart to prevent him from despawning.<br>But no, animals still despawn when they&apos;re out of render distance, even when they&apos;re placed in minecarts.<br>That moment I returned from my mining trip to my storage room and saw the empty minecart is still the most heartbreaking moment of my playthrough.

  boats in beta are so funny because you can go 50 miles per hour and hit a block and NOTHING will happen but move to inches and hit another block and boom you&apos;re stranded in the middle of the ocean
