  Quick note about the &quot;Silver Age&quot; terminology because I forgot to mention it in the video and I&apos;m seeing a handful of comments about it:<br>I did dub this era the &quot;Diamond Age&quot; in my Eras of Minecraft video, and tbh I still think that&apos;s a solid name. But I used the term &quot;Silver Age&quot; because that&apos;s what this era is most commonly referred to in the Old-Minecraft circles that I&apos;m a part of. So it&apos;s basically just a clarity/consistency thing. <br><br>Also, some people pointed out to me that &quot;Golden&quot; and &quot;Silver&quot; are not <b>necessarily</b> indicators of quality/popularity. For example, comic books are often separated into similar eras, but one of the most highly regarded eras of comics is the &quot;Silver Age&quot; (to my understanding at least; I don&apos;t know that much about comics).<br><br>In any case though, there&apos;s no official eras of Minecraft obviously. Call it whatever you want lol.

  Silver Age is super popular when it comes to being the era where MC youtube and modded letsplays completely blew up.

  I miss the void fog that existed during this era. it made caves so much more atmospheric.

  I remember being at church as a kid around early summer of 2014, and seeing someone playing Pocket Edition on their phone. I asked them what the game was called, and they replied &quot;Minecraft.&quot; I don&apos;t even think I fully grasped what was happening inside the game, but it fascinated me either way. Once we got home, I asked my grandmother if she could buy the game for me, so we went shopping online and ordered a copy of Xbox 360 Edition, since my step-dad who recently moved in had conveniently brought his old Xbox 360 with him.<br><br>I&apos;d played Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars on my mom&apos;s old SNES quite a few times before this point, and a few GBA games since I had one of those too. But Minecraft was the first game I can remember that really hooked me, and the first one that I played at every opportunity I possibly could. And it&apos;s since followed me through every phase of my life from around 7 years old when I first got the game, to around 12 when I met some of my closest friends through old Minecraft servers, to 19 as I&apos;m doing things like learning to drive and preparing for employment, still enjoying the game from time to time on my Steam Deck.<br><br>Though I find them harder to go back to now that I&apos;m older and have formed very specific preferences in terms of how I like my Minecraft experience to be (can&apos;t enjoy the game with that damn hunger bar there..)<br> I still appreciate those old versions for getting me into the game in the first place, and the unique vibe they carry compared to the golden age and post-Microsoft versions.

  In addition to being my first Minecraft experience, I associate this era with a multitude of user-generated content, like maps, texture packs, mods, servers and youtube channels that were popular at this time. The golden age might be golden, but the silver age was when Minecraft reached peak popularity.

  God I remember watching old beta 1.8 footage when I got home from school and having it blow my mind, I never wished I&apos;d had a computer more than back then. It seems so far away

  regardless of how weird the end itself is, the end poem is really, really good. I think the fact that it&apos;s in minecraft makes it even better because it&apos;s even less expected, which somehow adds to the experience of it.

  y&apos;know i am actually a big fan of the pre r1.9 versions, i&apos;ve always felt that additions like new crop types, the ability to breed animals, the hunger system, villages, and the horse updates overall really make this era feel more like a first person stardew valley style farming sim than any other era of minecraft

  One of the great things about silver age, 1.7.10 (edit) specifically if that counts, is the sheer number of mods that were available. It wasn&apos;t until 1.12 that we got another heavily modded version and some mods are still only available in 1.7
