  Fake it till you make it manifested into a character.<br><br>Understanding Cain is finding the balance between his own admitted unreliability on both sides of the coin.<br>He admonishes himself a great deal in his own memoirs yet still accomplishes great feats in spite of the excuses he makes. Ironically, one of the few Imperials to have a genuine sense of humility is one of its greatest champions.<br><br>He&apos;s basically the inverse of Thanquol which is appropriate considering recent events.

  He is not a coward and is not a jerk. He is actually exactly what the emperor would want. The inquisitor who compiles cain&apos;s files points out that courage is overcoming fear, not being incapable of feeling fear.

  Just gonna throw this out there : the ciaphas Cain audiobooks are fantastic. Great voice cast and sandy Mitchell, the author, has a background in television scripts anyway so the structure lends itself very well to audio format anyway. If you don&apos;t have time to sit down and read anything, they still make for great listening if you want some background noise while doing other things
