Great video James...I'm sure I already told you, our uncle was a Mosquito Pilot with 605 Sqn, at 0010 hrs on the 6th June 44, he and two other Mosquitos were over the Caen landing area, he was tasked to attack searchlights and AA guns at the Merville Battery....he wrote at length in his logbook entry about the attack, the Lancs "plastering" the area, the Glider Trains, and seeing signs of our landing strips, he had to clear the area twice to allow them to do their stuff, he finally cleared at 0039 hours, and headed back to Manston with a severly damaged elevator......I am the family custodian of his two logbooks..

When you look at the logistics of d day and the number of troops put ashore, it gives a better appreciation of Dunkirk.

What happened at midnight on the 6th June? .. The invasion already happened! The troops had been ashore some 17hrs.

Stagg didn't make any decision. Ike made the decision. He had the responsibility. Stagg only presented the meteorological consensus worked over by a vast team of meteorologists. He didn't present his advice in a vacuum, and he wasn't some kind of lone wolf. His role is vastly inflated.

Despite being in view of the German defences the allied ships did nothing 😢. Why doesn’t anyone talk about the massive fail of the early bombardment.
They maybe wiped out a load of hedgerows 😮

Nice format vlog very informative, interestjng and different perspective to the norm. Thank you
(and TBH a refreshing spin to some of the "revisionist history" stuff you and other historians blowhards have been putting out recently!)

Don't believe these BRITISH Lies. Why? On 28 April 1944 during Operation Tiger - the US army were doing DDay training exercises in Devon UK when they were attacked by German E Boats and 1500 US personnel were killed. General Eisenhower at SHAEF had intercepted the German Navy signals but SHAEF refused to warn the US army as it would give away to the Germans that the Enigma code had been broken and compromise DDay. What this really meant was that the Allies did NOT have the Timetable and Resources to defeat Germany without the ULTRA secret.
