  I always use to set antiskating according to the test record. I lower the VTF at half recommended than i play the test tone and look for buzzing to be equal in both channels! On my AT-LP140xp with a tracking force of 2gr using a AT95E cartridge i ended setting the antiskating at 0.8 and not 2 as producer recommends and which is wrong! It plays fantastic!   this was a great video.....thank you for explaining so thoroughly this subject......i always wondered if there was a way to measure anti skating but i trust your experimentations......good work and thanks for the help

  Your theory on reducing the anitskate by 25% from the manufacturers recommendation works for me. I have a Technics SL1500C turntable and a Nagaoka MP-200 cartridge. Nagaoka suggest a stylus force of 2.0 to 1.5 gr but the sound I like best is with a tracking force of 1.65gr and antiskate at 1.05 to 1.1 . I initially setup  the anit-skate using the Analogue Production's "The Ultimate Analogue Test LP" anti-skate test track and an oscilloscope. I ended up with the above setting which agreed with your set up theory. Thank you for your great video. 👍

  Hey all, Peter Ledermann of Soundsmith is an anti-skate advocate of the procedure used by Frank Schröder, the famous tonearm designer. According to Peter, “what he (Frank) did was he took a stylist and he dropped it down at the end of the record between the runout grooves, not in the run-out groove at the end of the record, but on the surface, the top of the record where the record is mirror smooth. Now, when you drop a stylist there, it&apos;s only going to stay there for a moment before the end groove picks it up. But if you observe the arm at that time and you get the anti skating adjusted so that the tonearm moves inwards towards the spindle slowly, that&apos;s about the best adjustment you can do for anti-skating. It&apos;s the best compromise.&quot;<br>I tried it, and it seems to work very well. To my ears, my records now sound more balanced, and the sibilance is gone. After setting the anti-skate this way, I did as Paul suggested and checked. He is correct: the new tracking force is 25% lower than that recommended by the manufacturer. &nbsp;Have any of you tried Frank Schröder&apos;s method?   I used a &quot;Test record&quot; by Tacet where they have a track to test tracking force. The way they test is to play a certain frequency with increasing volume and look for distortions in both channels. I tried that recently and found that reducing the tracking force than the recommended value lowered the distortions. So you maybe right on this one.

  Excellent video. I always worry about buying records with groove damage. I heavily research information online specifically for the turntables I use. A small adjustment can make a big difference.
