  You’ve given me the best description of skating force that I’ve ever heard, “because the stylus is tracking ahead of tangential it tries to continue tracking around the record.” Brilliant! Intuitively understandable without using any big words. Well done, my man!

  I went & bought Myself a HiFi set up record which will give you lot's of fun & also has a complete area where you can set the Styli to run correctly to the Anti skate position & also help you in setting up all the other positions on the turntable & you can buy these records for about $7 or £4 in the uk.

  A cartridge matched to the tone arm, a level tone arm, a level cartridge (azimuth), correct stylus overhang and tracking force, and an appropriate stylus shape for the records to be played are the easiest things to get right on a turntable. Some turntables make these settings easy (Technics) others make it more difficult. <br>Anti skate and stylus angles are the more difficult and controversial things to set up. Thankfully they are the least important in my opinion. I simply set the tone arm dial to match the tracking force and enjoy music. <br>Thanks for the demonstration!

  Never would have thought of using a CD! Mine needed tweaking it was going out, not in toward the center or staying still.

  I check the antiskate forces on a big lazer disc...far better than a CD

  A fair judge of where your correct anti-skate setting should/will be, and that&apos;s between 10 to 25% less than your Tracking Force.

  Is it bad if my table is set vtf to 2 and antiskate to max. I’m on a technics sl-1200 mk2
