Everything else aside, that's some really impressive craftsmanship.

As an American consumer of a specific type of video content, it was so pleasantly odd to hear “terminal effect” and the distinction between “internal and external ballistics” in the British accent. I very much appreciated your application of the scientific method. And the sound these things make as you throw them is awesome. Great stuff.

Wonderful video! Please demonstrate some of the other designs and explain the strengths and weaknesses of the different design choices.

I'm genuinely surprised a University hasn't reached out to assist or ask for your assistance. What you are doing is a key aspect of the historians process and should be recognized as such

In the 70s we called those "lawn darts" and were available in Sears toy departments everywhere ( insurance policy sold separately)👍

I love this sort of scientific endeavor. And you are also a great entertainer as well. I wish we had this sort of engaging yet educational media in schools.

This is a fascinating take on how the plumbata worked! Maybe this style of throwing is already known, but I've never seen it before.

Using it as a lever with a weight, as you say like a sling is genious! I would love to see more tests like this, and comparisons to other ways of throwing if possible.

Todds workshop has done some nice javelin and plumbata videos recently, I dont know if it is possible, but it could be cool if you collaborated, perhaps making two connected videos comparing the differences.

But mostly, well done! Looking forward to what you do next!

Lovely video! I had one small thought there at the end. If they carried five, there's nothing really stopping them from throwing one single for maximum distance then throwing two doubles as the enemy would draw closer.

Bro.... you're getting so much better at hand throwing, it's crazy.

I was so pumped to see this in my feed this morning.

Very interesting. Strikes me as a supplementary, intermediate, and wounding weapon to disrupt formations by slowing down or degrading group formations. Upshot is limited training required and the range is modest enough to allow infantry to revert to formation after a few throws. Could be a useful supplement to archers, and much less risky than having infantry try slinging without hurting each other.

Additional advantage is it forces the enemy to keep moving towards the army or else they will get deluged by missile weapons. Could be used to intimidate opponents into breaking formation and charge, which could be disastrous if they meet the opponent head on out of formation.

Additional considerations like a reusable or recreatable weapon that can be crafted or remelted from the lead (in the field) and other found materials makes it an effective logistical weapon, better than a bow or sling. I wonder of there are writings on efficacy in combat or descriptions of primary employment and strategic or tactical usage.

Perhaps a small point, but I'd like to thank you for providing measurements of your plumbata! I do not yet have the opportunity to recreate it, but I see myself attempting doing so in the future. A fascinating weapon! One wonders about the (partial?) shift into these from heavy javelins, and then the apparent disappearence of the plumbata (too).
