I remember the "Unoffical XP Service pack 4" that allowed you to update all the way up to 2019. Almost at the end of Windows 7 in 2020.

I worked at a computer shop once. The majority of our money came from 'upgrading' PCs from Vista to XP. :face-green-smiling: Oh boy, how times have come full circle again....

Thank you for this. My father and I used to repair old systems for people in our little town for free. We had so many dells and windows XP and vista machines we worked on it wasn't even funny. This brings me back. My father passed away earlier this year and seeing this brought back so many good memories. So, just wanted to say thank you.

Ah, I remember when everyone enabled extended POS updates on XP and Microsoft tried so hard to tell people that POSReady was in no way similar to Windows XP and that installing those updates on XP would break everything. My netbook with its original XP install survived just fine with all extended updates ever released.

Dont let the fact it didn't have an AGP slot upset you, it handled games well enough with an nvidia 8400GS plugged into the PCI slot.

It's really on brand for this channel to create a POS system.

I really miss the XP days at work, we had a XP thumbdrive that we created and when a machine needed re-imaging you could pop that in, play with your phone and in 15 minutes it would ready and joined to the network.

The long support just makes sense when you keep in mind how much critical equipment came with XP embedded and how much probably still is running it... <br>Win 10 also has an embedded version that still gets updates btw.

I've seen all manner of tech running on XP in the UK from doctors waiting room digital booking in screens, to EPOS and even diagnostic machines in my local opticians. Sadly also many obsolete and unpatched machines in the National Health Service hospitals, which regularly get hit for ransomware...
