As a biologist, I find this concept of 'divine ecology' and the mutation and evolution of pantheons is fascinating. Really interesting analysis.

As someone who grew up in a family comprised of hard core catholics mixed up with hard core atheists and an occasional woo-woo/cosmic energy and crystals/health-centered govt conspiracy nut (sigh), I am as an adult completely immune to any and all religions but it doesn't stop me from being deeply fascinated by any and all mythologies (and linguistic detectivism centered on literature)... This channel has quickly become my feel good place and I don't understand why it was never recommended to me before. Thank you for all the content!

The local divine family of Canaan + the imperialism of Assyria + the cosmology of Zoroastrianism + Greek philosophy= 1 fresh baked monotheism

There was quote you said about "the Israelites/Judean possibly being 'pre- destined' for monotheism" and how because of the exile and the negation of negation to hold on to one's identity was absolutely chilling it really gives the whole "YHWH chosen people" a new paradigm.
When you've run out of options and your only choice is absolute paradigm shift of your god or despair, they chose monotheism.

Is a sense YHWH is chosen by the Jewish people, Not the other way around.

This is a solid and concise summary of the origins of biblical monotheism. As someone who’s read and studied both of Mark Smiths books on the subject as well as John Day’s, Frank Moore Cross’s and the Ugaritic mythologies I can say Dr Sledge is truly painting as clear and objective of a picture as I’ve seen of such an amazingly complex and fascinating subject that I have been obsessed with for years

Thank you kindly sir
