  Something I find quite funny but also incredibly tragic is realizing that Lei Heng of all people was unironically one of the nicest people Ryoshu met and has had the most positive influence in her childhood. Which, man, it is almost borderline impressive to be such a bad parent that you make Lei Heng look like a saint in comparison

  I also felt like Valencina, Matthias, and Callisto were, in a way, representations of flanderizations of the fingers, they behave and act exactly like the general populus of the city would expect them too, The Thumb is seen as ruthless, and focused on abusing those lower in rank, the Middle&apos;s whole shtick is seen as a larp, only play-pretend care while in reality nobody really gives a damn about each other, and the Ring are just seen as fanatic lunatics focused on gruesome art for the sake of being gruesome, and yet Ironically enough, thse traits are exactly the reasons why they got kicked out of their corresponding fingers.

  I think Callisto is a particular kind of abuse, that being a parent who doesn&apos;t interact with their child in an affirmative way outside of special interests. <br><br>Like parents who only praise or critique you about grades, or money, or social standing. But give off the feeling they really do not care about you outside of those specific aspects which THEY care about. <br><br>If you&apos;re not engaging with them about something they find interesting in a way that they find interesting, they do not give a shit about you. Albina speaks to a child who has learned to do something equivalent to &quot;meeting parents expectations by going into the field they&apos;re interested in&quot; because that is the main passion that consumes their life, and they care for little else. <br><br>He tends to actually accept criticism pretty well, and I don&apos;t necessarily believe he would HATE Ryoshu establishing her own field of ring art, but he is SO absorbed into his &quot;art&quot; that he has no time for his children.

  Ryoshu is kind of a testament to &quot;generational abuse&quot; and how a lot of the harm from it comes not from the harm done to you, but the methods used to escape the harm along the way. <br><br>It&apos;s a very important lesson, tbh. Because we think of generational abuse (and to some extent trauma) as something which is done out of malice, but it&apos;s done out of a genuine love in a lot of cases. <br><br>A parent may beat their child because &quot;my parents beat me and it made sure I grew as a person&quot;. Because that toxic thing is an idea they internalized, and believe is the best way to make sure their child grows up well. Which is a form of love, however warped. <br><br>Ryoshu grew up using the safe as a safe place, to the extent that she internalized that it was a safe place and a good coping mechanism. Which lead to catastrophic harm to Araya when she passed that down to her. <br><br>That, I believe, is what Ryoshu is meant to represent in terms of abuse. <br><br>Matthias is neglectful and simultaneously suffocating<br>Rien is unpredictable, and lacks agency as a person <br>Valencia is incredibly physically abusive<br>Ryoshu&apos;s Bio mom is both physically and emotionally abusive <br>Callisto is a man so absorbed in his special interest that it&apos;s hard for him to present himself outside that <br><br>and Ryoshu is a parent who genuinely tried to break that cycle and save her daughter, who did incredibly well, all things considered. But still tripped up through passing down information intended to help that was toxic to her daughter&apos;s development.

  Rien&apos;s main problem imo is that he was too half-assed about everything he wanted so desperately to go against the Prescript that harmed his family or against the Prescript that now orders him to harm Ryoshu, he wanted to be a good father for her but also was terrified of the end result becoming a reality. He only ever found it in himself to go against the Prescript at the very end of his life.

  There was a very interesting Reddit Post about someone exploring Callisoto and Albina&apos;s characters and I really liked it. I dont remember the eact details but from what i did remember is that Callisto was basically lonely and wanted someone else to critique his art. His art was basically outdated by Ring&apos;s Standard an was why he let Hoenheim trashtalk his art and kept asking Sinclair about it, because he wanted someone to critique his works. Its also why he urged Ryoshu to develop her own artistic sense so she would also give her own perspective on his art.<br><br>And Albina was trained as a student to develop her own artistic sense too, but ended up TOO much like callisto, even getting that loneliness that Callisto feels, which is why she has Fascia as her only friend.<br><br>Overall, I really love how out of all the nursefather and apprentice duo, these 2 are the only ones that actually care about each other(Rien throwing Sora into the pit that is Muga Ryoshu doesnt count), because they are the only duo that have Assist Defense for one another, unlike Lucios one sided Assist Defense for Valencina who has Precog and Matthias&apos; showboating bum ass feeding off from Kira&apos;s hype for him<br><br>I cant really explain the whole thing with the ring duo, but for anyone interested, the redditor in question i believe was u/keqikombupig4

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAAAg3KfHOc&amp;t=289">4:49</a> Rien did not kill his family, he got a prescript saying he would have to watch someone die in front of his eyes, so he actively tried to avoid them. He came back (probably because he realized they were going to be killed anyways) and was too late to stop it.
