The problem at Real is not just their victim mentality. They also completely overestimate the quality of their own players. If you are at Madrid you must be one of the best players in the world. This midfield has been absolutely terrible ever since Kroos left and Modric declined. Yet still they somehow think that Valverde and Tchouameni are top 5 midfielders in the world. Even Bellingham is not really playing like a great midfielder, in the his time at Real he has developed into a terrific second striker, but he does not do a lot of actual midfield things.

They can talk about the ref but Atleti held the most possession, had more completed passes, and more shots on goal than Real. They were simply out performed.

I remember watching Madrid back in the day and just hoping by MIRACLE they drop points. Now, it’s expected. These guys do not run like they used too nor do they control the games anymore. More about buying players, filling holes, and expecting a patch to work.
