this is the match that made me get interested in tennis and started following Steffi. She made the game look so easy and she did it elegantly too! I also started picking up a tennis racket after this (no coaching, just tried to follow her forehand based on the VHS tape), and of course, to this day my forehand became my weakness because i just don't have the perfect timing like she does... Lol. Her forehand only works for her as she has the perfect timing!

I think this is the greatest turnaround i've ever watched on a tennis court.
From 5/7 0/2, all of a sudden, there is a hurricane swirling around Martina.
Winning shots are coming from everywhere.
The speed of her footwork, the pace and accuracy of her shots, this is truly exceptional.
Steffi became a champion of her own that peculiar day !

This was the first tennis match I ever watched. A year later, I started playing tennis. Steffi is my all-time favorite tennis player and Martina is in my top 5 females. I love how inclusive the Duchess and Kent are with the ballboys and ball girls. They had a lot of class.

Steffi said in an interview that she had been trying to pass Martina outright on the return, but when she went down a break in that second set she decided to try and get the ball at Martina's feet woth the return, and then try and pass her. It obviously worked very well.
