  I'm not proud of this story but back when I was a drug addict about 30 years ago I used to inject morphine. Instead of weening myself off it I went cold turkey. During that detox I was awake for 12 days straight. Worst time of my life. But now clean for over 20 years but ya 12 days .😢

  No matter how much I have to study (I’m a med student), I always make sure to get some sleep. Sleep deprivation will take you to bad places, sleep is something you shouldn’t compromise on!

  I&apos;m a chronic insomniac and I keep reminding myself that at least I don&apos;t have fatal familial insomnia.<br>It&apos;s not just the Soviets who use(d) sleep deprivation as a method of torture, it was already used during some of the witch trials.<br>And what happens? You turn into a vegetable. You might be able to walk around but everything is hazy, your memory goes, you can&apos;t remember the most basic of things and words, your head is buzzing, your face hurts.

  When I was a young girl my father told me about a time when he was a Marine fighting in the Korean war . He was incredibly sleep deprived and saw an &nbsp;enemy tank approaching . He was yelling loudly to warn his fellow soldiers of the potential danger but HE was the ONLY ONE who saw that tank . There was NO TANK only the one his sleep deprived mind THOUGHT he saw . I learned early that sleep deprivation is no joke !!!
