this is one of those, I don't care about oscars or what ever...its just a good old fashion fun movie. Made to entertain and it does that in spades

Fun fact about the girl that killed the guy without the helmet in training, the actress and the actor became so close on set that they married at the end of filming.

The novel and film have nothing in common except for the superficialities, but both are great for what they are, the book itself being my favorite novel ever.

The book does not have the satirical tone of the movie. Paul Verhoeven agreed to direct the movie before he read the book. When he did read the book, Verhoeven, who was very liberal, was shocked by its militaristic elements. He decided he could only make the movie if he could mock the ideology of the book.
