  The Mississippi River is NOT the longest river in the US. The Missouri River is one mile longer than the Mississippi. The confusion comes from the fact that Missouri River ends and connects to the Mississippi River. <br><br>The California-Canada question was about the fact that the entire population of Canada is lesser than the population of California. If the video wanted to add some more facts about both locations, it could have mentioned that there is an Ontario, Canada and an Ontario, California.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg03Av66AS0&amp;t=315">5:15</a> I lived on Adak Island in the Bering Sea as kid and it was awesome and we were so far west that technically we were east but we were also south enough that it didn&apos;t get brutally cold, we used to comb the beaches looking for anything that washed ashore and search the island for war relics left behind after WW-2 and there were hundreds of Bald Eagles on the island

  Hawaii is home to many active volcanos. In fact, Hawaii is the only state whose physical size grows due to lava flowing into the Pacific, cooling and expanding the geographic area of the island the volcano is on. The Big Island itself gets 42 acres of new land added on each year due to volcanic eruption.

  Alaskan here, it&apos;s not always cold here we have all 4 seasons it just feels different than it would in the lower 48. I always encourage folks to check out the last frontier it really is beautiful here and Puerto Rico is a US territory not a state.

  Puerto Rico is just a territory, &nbsp;though they do talk about making it a state occasionally.<br><br>The fact that Alaska&apos;s only physical neighbor is Canada is why so many people get confused when they hear talk of the &quot;48 contiguous United States&quot;. <br><br>That phrase is referencing the &quot;Lower 48&quot; US states that ARE physically connected to at least one other state (Maine I think is the only one with just one neighbor). <br><br>There are 50 states total at this time. Alaska and Hawaii were #49 and #50 respectively. Alaska on January 3, 1959 and Hawaii later that year on August 21, 1959.

  The Missouri is about 2,341 to 2,540 miles, the Mississippi is about 2,320 to 2,350 miles depending on the measurement and source. &nbsp;IAW: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
