I worked for the forest service almost 40 years ago. I was 10 to 20 miles out in the wilderness for 10 day hitches. I was in a team of 12. We worked 10 hour days building trail. I could eat anything I wanted and never gained. In fact I had a hard time keeping weight on.

My dad worked for a while at a lumber camp. He said the biggest toughest guy would stab with his fork the whole stack of hot cakes when the cook brought them to the table. Nobody would say a word and wait for more food to come out later

We had Gypo shacks on our family cabin grounds and they where the baddest men around. Lil' Jack at 94 years old walked out in the woods and decided he was done. We searched everywhere and never found him. Granted Wolves or Bears could have eaten everything about him. But we knew he died the The way he wanted!!!!🔥🔥💯💯 The OLD TIMERS THAT BUILT THIS GREAT COUNTRY 🔥🔥 WISH WE COULD GO BACK TO THOSE DAYS‼️‼️‼️💯💯👍👍🙏🙏🙏

A staple of the family diet in Québec is called Paté Chinois - Chinese Pie. This being a layer of ground meat fried with onions, topped by a layer of creamed corn and then surmounted by a layer of mashed potatoes. Then baked for awhile in an oven. It's simple, cheap and very nourishing.
It originated in the logging camps around a place called China, Maine and had nothing to do with the country of the same name. Without the creamed corn we'd call it Cottage Pie.
