  People don’t understand that in 120 degree heat walking just one mile is the same as walking ten miles at 60 degrees. You lose so much fluid so fast people can go from fine to fighting for their life in matter of minutes

  So this video is telling you right away that in one situation, if you hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon in the hottest part of the day, you’ll have to stay overnight before going back up. Otherwise you will most likely suffer heat stroke and possible death on your way back. <br><br>Or, in another situation, if you leave early and avoid the heat on your way down, you’re still at risk if you decide to go up the canyon in the hottest part of the day. <br><br>Because, if you’re climbing up the canyon, your body will heat up to a much higher degree than going down, due to greater physical exertion. <br><br>And for another reason, that for any situation, because the air is hot and dry it will cause your sweat to evaporate before it gets a chance to cool the body down. Which will cause your body temperature to rise even higher. <br><br>So together, these two factors will lead to heat stroke and possible death. Because the canyon doesn’t care about your physical conditioning.
