My wife and I were lucky enough to have met Howard Arneson through Tony Garcia in late 1983 while we were building a Larry Smith Team Scarab 30 foot kevlar boat to race in the offshore Pro Stock class. Howard developed and built the drives for us ( It helped that we lived in the same part of Marin County just north of San Francisco )and the boat, called Warcry, was fast enough to take us to the World Championships in 1985. He was a wonderful man! Great memories!

True Howard did have 2 engine on one Arneson drive but Gentry went with a fixed surface drive using the drop center chain box. Fabio Buzzi made his own fixed shaft surface drive called Trimax! It had a unique watercooled trust bearing!

A great video on the Aronson Stern drives! I remember them from the Key West offshore World Championships powerboat races back in the eighties I live there🎉🎉🎉🎉

" Kaama" is pronounced "Kay -Ma" Famous offshore racer Betty Cook used the drives on all of her boats.

Bull dust ! I have ! a 1922’ Large book 📕 called motor boating 1922’ !<br> And they have surface propellers on some of the high performance boats of the day ! <br>They just didn’t have a projecting and adjustable shaft extension out the back ! Also surface propellers back before the 90s had 2 or at most four blades 😮 for some reason 😢😢
