  Well narrated. In August 2026 my wife and I were on the Symphony of the Seas leaving Galveston, Texas to Nassua and Cozumel. It was not our first cruise. I was given an opportunity to see the mechanical spaces of the ship. A tour per se. It didn&apos;t happen. The only thing the $200 tour did was show us a galley and the freezers on the 2nd deck. I asked if we would see the engines and generators and was told NO. People asked about the propulsion system and I ended up telling the 20 folks in the tour about the engines (6), the generators, and the fuel. The guide seemed a little stand offish because he didn&apos;t know or wouldn&apos;t talk about it. I&apos;m a 70 year old mechaical engineer with 4 degrees in engineering. No big deal of course but i really wanted to see the engines. If you take a Royal Carribean Cruise you may want to save the $200 and do something else. It was a great cruise except for the engine room tour.

  I was on Icon of the Seas in August. &nbsp;I took the behind the waves tour and during the engine control room tour, I was able to speak with one of the engineers in the control room. &nbsp;They normally run 2 engines in each engine room with one on standby. &nbsp;If all running engines were lost, only 2 would be available. I asked how fast the ship could go, his answer was somewhere between 14-16kts, while still providing full power to the ship. &nbsp;The ship normally goes about 22-24kts.

  With HUNDREDS of ships with electric propulsion, why would anybody expect a long shaft and a single propeller???

  As a retired marine engineer i found this video very interesting,but the 250’000 &nbsp;tons being pulled through the water is I believe gross tonnage not displacement.There is a very big difference between the two.⚓️🇬🇧.
