The interesting thing about this series is listening to Billy Martin as guest commentator.  You had players on both teams who, in the time they played for Billy, didn't get along with him at all.  Obviously we know about Reggie, but Rudy May played for Billy from August of 75 till June of 76 and they had no warm feelings towards each other.  Billy thought he was gutless.  Billy felt the same way about Game 1 starter Larry Gura, who played for Billy in Texas in 73 and in New York in 75 and 76, and then you had Ken Brett, George's  brother, who played for the Yanks from the start of the 76 season till May 19th of that year, and only pitched in two games.  And during the 76 ALCS George Brett made comments about how badly Billy treated his brother.  During these telecasts you can see that Billy can barely make himself say one positive thing about any of them.  With George he has to since it's obvious he was the best player in the world that year, but he's so reserved with praise for any of the players he had personal problems with.  And all of these players were quality major leaguers.  Billy really did have a mind like an elephant.  Once you got on his bad side, you stayed there.  These were personality conflicts that influenced his ability to judge them purely on their ability.  It's one of the cardinal no-nos of managing.  In many ways it's indicative of a small and petty man, which he often was.
