  I am a first generation quilter. My.mother didn't like to sew anything at all. I know that my grandmother made utility quilts,,but none of them survived. I,have made many quilts in the past 50 years. I taught my sister-in-law and plenty of kids and friends how to make a quilt. I have three that I am working on right now. Two are Christmas gifts for two of my grandchildren and one is a scrap,Postage Stamp Quilt that will v o into one of our vehicles to use for a.picnic or for taking a nap in the passenger seat. I enjoy your videos.

  I remember seeing the hooks in my Aunt Katy’s front bedroom ceiling.  They’d stopped by the time I came along.  I always felt like I missed something wonderful.  I teach quilting to people in my county, and the laughter in my classroom is the closest I’ll come to the old Bees.

  ❤❤❤❤ Miss Holly and my grandma made a grandmother's flower garden quilt back in the thirties out of feed sack fabric the centers for pale pink rims with solid color then floral print around that then an outside Ring of Bright pink fabric I think they called the Carnation back in the day and then of white and it faded cream by the time I was born as the pathway between the flower rings all made from little tiny hexagons each side was about an inch long the whole thing was about an inch and a half across and my grandma learned then it was for her on her wedding day she did all that work just to help Miss Holly never dreaming that it was for her she told me which fabrics came from which of her sisters dresses and which ones were my great-great is and my nobody else living wanted to know anything about that quilt but they sure grabbed it fast when she I'm sharing the love that went into that quilt with y'all because I appreciate this channel and the memories you preserve thank you❤ my great-great-aunt Sally could stitch 16 to the inch not being prideful it was just she said a fine hand she was in her 90s when I was a small child and I was honored to get to be the one to thread her needles for her

  I have the last quilt my Grandma made. Grandma was raised in the Allegheny Mountains of PA, poor.  She made one for each of her daughters and granddaughters.  Her babies that didn’t make it and her youngest brother who was born when Grandma had her first child, all were buried wrapped in their quilts so the family story goes.  I received mine when I turned 13 back in 1973.  Grandma died before I turned 16.  Mine has ties on the corners. She was able to buy fabric and there’s coordinating full back so I could flip it over if I wanted.  Her hands were suffering from arthritis pretty bad.  A couple of my aunts helped tie the yarn.  I’ve rarely seen others. Hall hand work, no machine. My mom and aunts got squares cut from worn out clothes just like my Grandma’s wedding quilt which went to the oldest daughter.   My oldest cousin on Dad’s side was a quilter, never any handwork, all machine.  She saw my Grandma’s quilt and made some degrading comments and boy did the argument begin. Dad had to stop us, he knew my temper and love for Grandma would’ve ended in fisticuffs.  I grew up with brothers, she did not, her stepbrother was a good 12 years older.  I do need to pin a note so my nieces will know who made my quilt.  And yes, I carry my Grandma’s name.  Also need to fix a couple of squares.  Grandma taught me to embroider said I’d need it when I started quilting.  I never learned to quilt, Grandma lived 3,000 miles away from us.  Her embroidery work is amazing to see, stitches on front, look exactly like the back.
