My feeling about the AMA & VMAs 'K-pop' vs Grammys 'Asian Pop' categories is that K-pop is an industry and BTS has never denied that they were born out of the Korean-based industry so they are okay with the label of K-pop. It's fully Korean. And it got them to where they are now... to where they actually broke out of that industry to become known worldwide and no longer limited to k-pop but not denying how they got there.

The 'Asian Pop' category is
a) a non-existant genre of music
b) uses language to limit the participants
c) incorrectly throws artists from a variety of diverse countries including Korea into to 1 homogeneous box. Not a good look for the Grammys.

Bottom line: BTS knows how to use their influence strategically to subtly direct public perception. So proud of them!

The reason why the VMAs been a lot was because we army could vote. And I’m happy to say I was part of that at 75. I got our boys in amongst all the other army.

VMA is a voted award and I think BTS values it more BECAUSE it's a fan voted and ARMYs voted for them.
If you don't thank your fans after they spended one month voting for you the fans may get the idea that you wouldn't care if you lost and stop voting in the next awards.
Great video as always

You know what you’re describing it’s like it shows how intricately intelligent these men are. They are thinking ahead and strategically. Just absolutely fantastic and amazing.

First, BTS doesn't submit to VMA's, like they have to do for Grammy's. BTS was simply thanking the fans because BTS was only in the fan nominated categories. They were left out of the non-fan voting categories, i.e. Artist of the Year. I don't think BTS cares about the VMA's.

I'm so surprised that Arirang hasn't been nominated for album of the year at award shows.

BTS really does have to be the people that do this. They will change things for everyone. BTS paved the way is the saying for a reason. Love your content 🫰💜🫰

Another important plus for the VMA is the separation of group category and collaboration. Winners of Duo Group at Grammys have been going to famous collaborations rather than a duo or group as a single entity. This has been part of the discussion of needed change for Grammys for years now, but especially mentioned as part of the discussion following BTS decision not to submit this year.
