  Never killed any big game! Elk or moose! Just whitails! Born in the right era!  Killing, catching, growing, canning, everything!  Luv this lifestyle!   I trust what I pressure cook!

  I can say that I have field dressed a whit tail deer along with my brother.<br>Then we brought the meat home a finished processing it.<br>My mom did can some of it. We use the canned deer meat for camping.

  I still know how to can meat and vegetables.<br>My cousin raises beef and hogs.<br>He doesn&apos;t use antibiotics unless totally necessary.<br>That is where I get my pork and beef from.<br>I still have to purchase chicken from the store.<br>Btw, the cousin that I get my pork and beef from learned how to butcher from my grandpa also.

  Mate, I so understand, I&apos;m a recreational fisherman from Sydney Australia, but I grew up on the south coast of NSW. I find it frustrating that none of my grandkids what to about the bounty of the ocean

  Thankfully, my grandparents taught myself and my siblings how to butcher a hog or a steer from shooting them in the head to canning the meat, making beef bone stock or pork stock.<br>We smoked quite a lot but we had freezers to put the meat in.<br>We did smoke a great deal of the hog.<br>We also butchered chickens.<br>I&apos;d rather butcher a hog or steer than chickens.<br>Plucking those stinking hot feathers. &nbsp; yuck !!<br>I&apos;m 72 years old and live alone.<br>My mom had the canner going from August all the way through November.<br>The first months were canning vegetables from the garden.<br>My mom had half an acre garden and an acre of sweet corn.<br>We were busy all summer and fall.<br>About the time the garden and sweet corn were done producing food. <br>Then it was time to start butchering animals.
