  In my 50+ years of playing, I have learned a lot of these lessons the hard way. I share my 3 basic rules with younger players:<br>1. You probably need less gain than you’re currently using.<br>2. You probably need less bass than you’re currently using. <br>3. You probably need more midrange than you’re currently using. <br><br>I’m certainly not an expert and i definitely haven’t played nearly as many gigs as Shane. However, my rig is at &nbsp;point now where either live or in the studio there is very little (if any) EQ needed to get it to sit nicely in the mix.

  You crack me up! Always friendly and willing to share, and so sensible about gear. Love that you’re so open about all your knowledge. I became a fan when I watched your video in which you opened a bag for a session in New Orleans…you had some beat-up pedals and some tangled cords, and you said something like, “Yeah, I got this!” World-famous guitarist, plays sessions for everyone under the sun, plays at Royal Albert Hall, and takes three old pedals! Reminds me of the greatest baseball players ever: DiMaggio never used a batting helmet or gloves. His hitting streak has NEVER been broken. Absolutely a fan of yours!
