  We do a similar thing before hurricane season starts here! I buy the Saints candles instead of emergency candles. Who better to watch over you in an emergency!

  when using the hand warmers. &nbsp;if they are still warm, and your job is done? &nbsp;put them in a freezer bag. &nbsp;take the air out. &nbsp;they will go cold again. &nbsp;you can use them 2-3 times as needed when moving around doing winter things.

  My very white, Irish /English midwestern-raised grandmother had so many of the same habits, rules, and standards as you teach in all your videos. Made a pot of beans every week, had plenty of back up staples and supplies, kept a spotless house (even with 5 kids, 4 little dogs, and a job), and reused everything until it fell apart. She loved the dollar stores, and one thing you might add here are tap lights. She had one in every room and closet and next to entry doors and where she sat at night before bed. They don’t give off a lot of light, but enough to get from place to place without having to turn on the light switch. This was one way that she saved on her electric bill also.

  My mom sent us out to the bus stop with a warm hard boiled egg. It kept our hands warm and we could eat it before school.

  For power outages ... my mother taught us to fill cook pots for drinking/cooking &nbsp;water, and the bath tub for washing and &nbsp;flushing.

  Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. &nbsp;I am a 66 year old white lady that was raised by a Depression parents. &nbsp;I have been using the same ziploc bags for way more than 5 times. &nbsp;I have a flashlight in my bedroom and at the top of the cellar stairs. &nbsp;I have plenty of candles and two kerosene lamps. &nbsp;As for the blankets, I have enough for the street. &nbsp;I weather stipped my doors and made a big difference and I had draft dodgers until I got the front door replaced.
