  At some point in the mid part of my 72 years, it occurred to me that my consciousness wasn&apos;t a by-product of me and my experience, rather it was the other way around: My physical being is a by-product of a massive general consciousness.   Combination of 1, 2, and 3 we’re probably pretty close. &nbsp; The Brain is a receiver of consciousness, not the seat of consciousness.

  Talking to others about it leads me to suspect that there are many more cases of regaining consciousness under anesthesia than are formally documented.

  IMO, Split brain surgery strongly supports this conclusion: <br>Changes to the physical organization and activity of the brain can change the contents, unity, and structure of conscious experience. <br>That&apos;s difficult to reconcile with the idea that consciousness is independent of the brain.<br>Same as with Psychedelics and and amnesia they provide evidence that conscious experience is strongly dependent on brain activity.<br>But there&apos;s an important distinction: <br>“Consciousness depends on the brain” ≠ “science has proved consciousness is nothing but the brain.”

  Under general anesthesia, &nbsp;I &nbsp;had dreams. I remembered them vividly when I awoke. &nbsp; I&apos;m sure lots of people also dream or think during anesthesia.
