I have 4 grandsons growing up without mothers. Each of my older grandsons lost their mother in their early teens. One mother died in a car crash. One died of illness. My younger 2 are brothers. Their mother just abandoned them. I am trying to be a positive female in their lives.

My mother in law was mean to me for several years of our early marriage. My husband always defended & made excuses for her as if her abuse to me was "deserved". Argh 😢

My ex boyfriend has this going on and he would blame/shame me. Constant criticism of me and he had no idea what he was doing to push me away. I couldn't deal with it so I decided to let him go. He didn't want to break up but I insisted on it for my own health. I felt very uncomfortable around him like walking on eggshells. The first time I asked him to leave my living space he was angry and put a nail into the rear driver side of my vehicle. I had to slowly get out of dating him to not trigger another type of vandalism to my property. He also broke other items of mine. These are red flags for me and I didn't feel safe around him.

I wish my husband would watch these videos (he won't).

His mother is bipolar and his father was extremely mentally, emotionally, and physically abusive in his childhood.

Our marriage is hanging by a thread. He completely avoids me and the kids (3 under 5 years of age) unless I ask him to sit down and have a chat with me or ask him to help me in some way with the kids (usually to put child #2 or #3 down for a nap).

I'm working on myself with a therapist, watching Adam's videos, and listening to any other video I can that I think might help me grow. Adam has been incredibly helpful in understanding attachment issues I face with myself and with my partner.

Thank you.

Great video! I feel like I have a very unique mother wound. My mother kept me in a constant hyper vigilant state. She was overly and obsessively hyper critical and extremely verbally abusive and also physically abusive. And she did not show ANY affection whatsoever. She did provide for us, whether it was a hot meal, making sure the house stayed clean, etc.. but it was chaos. I haven’t found one person on YouTube that has mentioned a mother like this 😅

One of the best and accurate videos!! This relates to my partner but he is so much in denial and keeps saying that he had perfect childhood while he is very disorganized, numb, has addiction 😭😖 He is so disconnected from his own body and identity that he can't even name is emotions

Mother number 4 describes my ex mother in law to a T and her son as well. His extreme jealousy and accusations completely destroyed the relationship. It was all on his terms. I would need to fit in the relationship mold he made for me and was supposed to have no needs. Every time I expressed I was attacked for being unreasonable. At the same time I could never give enough.

You just helped me understand my own attachment style. Disorganized attachment...you crave it then sabotage it.... that's been my entire life.
