  Bon died earlier that year and few years before his death he mentioned Brian Johnson as being a good singer. Hence Angus and Malcom went to Brian after Bon’s passing.  The album “Back in Black” is dedicated to Bon, hence the cover signifies their mourning.

  This is AC/DC comeback album after the death of Bon Scott. And it was Bon Scott who discovered Brian Johnson at a club in his band GEORDIE.

  Angus Young (lead guitar) and Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar) were in separate bands in Sydney, Australia as kids in the early 70&apos;s... They were still living w/ their parents... Finally, Malcolm suggested that Angus join his band, recognizing his younger brother&apos;s skills on guitar and showmanship... Angus thought, &quot;Why not? It&apos;s better than work.&quot; <br>Malcolm Young had been in the local music scene and kept recruiting available musicians for his band... Their sister Margaret suggested the name &apos;AC/DC&apos;... from the label on her sowing machine... She also suggested that Angus Young wear a schoolboy uniform onstage and stitched his first outfits. <br><br>In 1973, Angus and Malcolm Young played their first shows as AC/DC w/ Dave Evans (vocals)... Angus was still a teenager and blossoming as a guitarist and showman... They went through a few bassists and drummers over 2 years of doing gigs. <br><br>Their older brother George Young had been the guitarist of a successful Australian rock band The Easybeats in the 60&apos;s... George and fellow bandmate &amp; guitarist Harry Vanda became a production duo and started working for an Aussie label J. Albert &amp; Son... George knew that Angus and Malcolm were talented and offered to produce a single for AC/DC in 1974... Dave Evans sang on the first AC/DC single &quot;Can I sit next to you girl&quot;... (and a 2nd song &quot;Rockin&apos; in the parlour&quot;) and the band appeared on TV for the first time to promote the single and did a small tour. <br><br>It was on that tour that they met Bon Scott, who had been hired as the band&apos;s driver... He had been a singer since the late 60&apos;s and loved AC/DC when he saw them perform live in 1974... Angus and Malcolm liked him right away and asked him if he wanted to join AC/DC... Bon offered to play drums when they needed a drummer... Then, singer Dave Evans quit AC/DC in &apos;74 just before a gig (Evans claimed that he wasn&apos;t making the money he needed) <br>Bon Scott offered to sing for AC/DC that very night... He showed up at the gig w/ drugs and a bottle of Bourbon and proceeded to amaze Angus and Malcolm Young w/ his voice and swagger. <br>In late 1974, AC/DC returned to the studio w/ Bon Scott as their singer and recorded their first album &apos;High Voltage&apos; w/ Vanda and George Young producing... It was released in early 1975... AC/DC relocated to Melbourne that year and hired Phil Rudd (drums) and Mark Evans (bass) and that line-up recorded their 2nd album &apos;T.N.T.&apos; that same year. <br><br>After Bon Scott&apos;s untimely death in early 1980, AC/DC were devastated... They weren&apos;t sure if they would continue but Bon&apos;s parents encouraged Angus and Malcolm to carry on w/ AC/DC... Within weeks, they held auditions for singers in the UK. <br><br>Brian Johnson (vocals) was a singer from Newcastle, UK... he was the same age as Bon Scott and had been singing since the late 60&apos;s... He formed the rock band Geordie in the early 70&apos;s... Around 1972(?), he recalled an Australian band named Fraternity doing a UK tour w/ Geordie and met the singer Bon Scott... One night, Brian Johnson was overcome w/ pain from appendicitis while singing and was screaming into the mic, writhing in pain onstage... Bon thought it was part of his act and was really impressed w/ that performance. Years later, Bon told Angus and Malcolm Young about seeing this singer named Brian Johnson perform... After Bon Scott died, AC/DC got a letter from a fan in the US suggesting Brian Johnson from Geordie as the next singer of AC/DC; Angus and Malcolm recalled Bon telling them about seeing the band Geordie and the singer Brian Johnson... They decided to locate him<br> <br>However, Geordie disbanded in 1976 after recording 3 albums w/ little success... Brian Johnson recalled watching TV around 1977 and saw AC/DC perform live - he recognized the singer Bon Scott and became a fan and even bought AC/DC records. He was in shock when news broke in early 1980 that Bon Scott had died... Brian Johnson was working manual labor jobs full-time to make a living, in debt financially and putting together a new version of Geordie to keep his musical ambitions alive by 1980... Johnson recalled getting a phone call from a German lady asking him to audition for a band in London and slipped up that it was AC/DC... He wasn&apos;t enthusiastic about taking time off work to go to London but he decided to make the trip in March of 1980. <br><br>The story was that Brian Johnson had arrived for his AC/DC audition and the band had no idea he was downstairs playing pool w/ the crew... Finally, Malcolm asked someone if anyone had come around and was informed that a guy was playing pool downstairs... The band liked him right away. He suggested singing &apos;Nutbush City Limits&apos; by Tina Turner ... and AC/DC improvised it... They suggested trying the AC/DC song &quot;Whole lotta Rosie&quot;... and all 4 members knew that Brian Johnson was the singer for AC/DC... They took his info and Brian Johnson thanked the band and left for Newcastle. <br><br>On April 1, 1980... Brian Johnson got a call from Malcolm Young asking him to come down to London - he had been selected as the new singer of AC/DC, to his surprise... He was told that he needed to quit his job and get a passport - AC/DC was going to the Bahamas to work on a new album. Brian Johnson had never traveled outside of Europe before then and it was a shock to be somewhere new, so far away from home... Angus and Malcolm Young simply told Brian that they wanted to make a rock record in the spirit of Bon Scott... They wanted a typical AC/DC record w/ the booze, sex and rock n&apos; roll lyrics. <br><br>&quot;Hells Bells&quot; was the first song that Brian Johnson wrote after a thunderstorm hit his area in the Bahamas... Johnson was unsure how to follow up Bon Scott&apos;s lyrics but soon found himself writing the lyrics to songs like - &quot;What do you do for money, honey&quot;... &quot;You shook me all night long&quot; ... &apos;Have a drink on me&apos; ... &apos;Let me put my love into you&apos;... <br>Angus and Malcolm got the idea of adding a bell to &quot;Hells Bells&quot; ... They sent a recording team to record a church bell in the UK but the birds that occupied the bell tower ended that idea... So, AC/DC ordered a custom-built bell from a foundry and recorded the bell maker hitting it. <br><br>The album was titled &quot;Back in Black&quot;... and the band insisted on a black cover - a significance of mourning the loss of Bon Scott... Their record label was disheartened but finally gave in. It went to #1 in the UK as AC/DC did their first concerts w/ Brian Johnson as their singer in Europe. <br>Determined to break big in the US, AC/DC did an extensive tour in 1980 and Brian Johnson had to introduce himself to a fanbase that was still mourning the loss of Bon Scott... However, radio embraced AC/DC and they had a top 40 hit that year - &apos;You shook me all night long&apos; ... the album &quot;Back in Black&quot; sold rapidly as a result, outselling the previous AC/DC album &apos;Highway to Hell&apos; (their last record w/ Bon Scott) and reached 12 million copies in the US alone by 1981... AC/DC returned to Australia to perform there for the first time since 1976 and were greeted by massive crowds... Before the tour, they actually sent their concert bell to tour Australia and thousands showed up to pay money to have their pictures taken w/ it. <br><br>At the Sydney concert in 1981, Bon Scott&apos;s parents were invited to see the band and they met Brian Johnson for the first time... Brian was so grateful when Bon&apos;s mom Mrs. Isa Scott told him, &quot;Our Bon would have been proud.&quot;

  Brian Johnson kicked its ass right out of the gate with &nbsp;the &nbsp;Back In Black 🙌🏼There was &nbsp;only one Bon Scott and fortunately there is a Brian Johnson who grabbed the Mic 🎤 and never looked back 😎
