i'm 50 been riding for about 2 months now got just over 2500 miles on my bike and loving every second of it. feel like im at a 4/7. i ride dam near every day, i've gone for 80-90 mile rides in a day, ride in high traffic and highways, but i've never ridden in a group as i have no desire to be around a bunch of people. that said, i know i'm still a noob but i also am confident in my abilities. i'm having a blast and staying safe. love you videos man! keep em coming.

Riding for 50 years: cruiser; sport; adventure; dirt bike. Based on this scale I’d put myself at level 10. However, I’m always learning and never think I know everything. That’s what keeps you alive while riding.

Rather than a linear progression, I think of it as a skllls matrix. Identify what you need to work on and fill the gaps.

I started on a High School Practice Football Field at 14 years old, on my 16-year-old cousin's 10-year-old 'Hog'...  We learned together...  dumped it a few time...  Learned how to pick it up...  How to shift, brake, turn, etc.  Six years later when I returned from my second tour in Vietnam, I bought a 450 Honda...  Rode the tires off of that for a couple of years.  Traded it for used 900 cc Harley Sportster...  Rode that for a while then got out of Riding...  At age 50 I bought a new 2004 (101st Anniversary Harley) Road King Custom...  I was going to buy a 2003 - 100tth Anniversary Harley...  But since I had, had 2 tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division, I decided I could wait a couple months...  Rode the Heck outa that bike...  Torrential Rain, Blinding Snow, Hot Weather/Cold Weather, Highway, Backroads, even Dirt Roads.  Thought nothing of getting on the bike to drive 700 miles to go to Happy Hour, with people who I used to work...  BTW 700 Miles = a 10 Hour Riding On-The-Clock; including Gas/Bathroom Stops...  Regardless of the Weather!!!   I've taught many other people how to ride...  Still have that Bike - I don't ride anymore - Carpal Tunnel gave me Neuropathy in both hands so bad, that in a Blindfold Test, I'd have a hard time telling if I'm touching a knife or a pen, without looking.      To those who Ride - I'm giving you that left hand down two fingers extended 'Biker Wave!'  -  Ruber-Side Down - Shiney Side Up, My Friends!!
