  After calling a squirrel "poop head" when he was digging in my newly planted pot, I had to explain to my 3 year old grandson that we should not call people "poop head" :o

  1,000 black plastic forks cost about $20.  Controls squirrels, cats and ravens.  Every pea seed between a pair, 3 around a bulb; tines up, of course.   There's divots everywhere, so I know the squirrels are still trying, but they haven't been able to penetrate my praetorean guard!

  We have ground squirrels here in Southern Oregon out in the country, we call them “digger squirrels” and they are everywhere and so destructive to our land, house, plants- everything! After trying a number of non lethal deterrents I resolved to the final solution 💥💥💥

  I only grow tomatoes, no problems when the plants are growing but when they start producing mators those rascals take a bite as soon as they show a little color. After trying everything under the sun to keep em away ( owl decoys, coyote urine, pepper flakes, etc) I resorted to building an entire chicken wire cage over the (small) garden , Lol  . For me, this is the only thing that works.

  MI zone 6b here. I use clear/see through plastic bottles as cloches  over my seedlings. Not only do they act as a mini greenhouse. The keep out squirrels from digging. Waiting to oberseve how they do with insect/slug pests later in the season as I plant more seedlings out.

  Its cats I have a problem with. They were pooping anywhere. I had veg growing, so I netted them to keep the cats off thst area. Next day I found the cats had clawed holes in the netting. It keeps the cats out but lets the bugs in !

  I've been using large clear  plastic totes when they're seedlings and later I'll use hardware cloth / wire mesh to protect them.

  it works well for me to sprinkle around the seedlings with powdered cayenne  pepper.  squirrels won't touch it then.  of course, it has to be reapplied after a rain.

  I use tulle to cover my beds and pots to keep wildlife out. Zone 9B. Large binder clips work for me to attach the tulle to the beds and pots. <br>Once the spring/summer vegetables get flowers, I will peel back the tulle during the daytime hours and just replace it at night. The dogs also help secure the yard during the day.
