I got a black lab to protect my tomatoes from rabbits and birds, turned out the black lab ate them all.

I got a Shetland sheepdog dog guarding my garden with a Black Labrador for backup. I use cattle wire around my garden to keep the dogs out. My Shetland Sheepdog is very vocal and she does kill rabbits. Before I got my Sheltie my Labrador did nothing. Rabbits had it their way and my Labrador would just look at rabbits and fall asleep. Very mellow.

Rabbits can eat through that mesh easily, but it does keep out deer and squirrels. Found out the hard way: Rabbits ate all the green beans right at harvest time, caught them in the act. Had to replace some of the mesh and double up on the mesh around the bottom outside of my garden area which mostly deters the rabbits, but not always .

My garden enemy is our sons cat. Pickles has proven to be a worthy adversary to whom I tip my hat. However, this just may be the secret weapon I have been looking for to end pickles reign of terror.

Squirrels will just climb over the fence. 🤣😅

They crawl up the netting, so do box turtles! I watched them eat my cantaloupe. Took them all night, but they did. A complete closure is the only way to keep out.

I only have pots of tomatoes by my door, but squirrels ate every green one, until I did two things. Set out a bowl of water-my dad's buddy swore by that, critters are thirsty. Made a cage of three old window screens wired together. They couldn't get through it or under it. No idea why the didn't climb it, but they didn't.

I don't know why YouTube won't let my comment stay up but all you need to do is put a radio on a fence post put a trash can over it so it can't rain on it put it on talk radio problem solve animals won't come when they hear people talking

Thank you for this video. Very good. I went to the feed store and bought a cup of white clover and planted it at the far edge of the property and also put out a shallow top of a bird bath, placing it directly in the ground, half buried to the rim. Then filled it with water. This is for butterflies, frogs, etc..that want a drink. Rabbits, too. The clover provides a distraction for the rabbits which are basically lazy foragers. Deer netting keeps out all deer,; bird netting , all birds. Our German pinscher chases out all woodchucks. The opossums and fox clean up any fallen fruit with the added advantage that the opossums eat all rats and the foxes eat any rabbits they can catch.
