"stay over the bar longer than you think" is what worked for me, thank you!

"don’t lift with your back" was advice given to factory workers. The goal was to avoid repetitive strain injuries after working 40 hrs/week for several years. It has nothing to do with strenght training 5 minutes every other day. Totally different worlds.

Someone once explained the difference between a squat and a deadlift like this: in a squat, your hips mostly go up and down; in a deadlift, they mostly go backwards and forwards.

Been lifting for 30 years and my deadlift always gave me lower back pain. Also couldn’t feel the power in my legs while lifting. This is the first explanation in years that actually helped me improve. Good job!

I try to think of it as a hip thrust movement rather than a pull. Works for me.

The angle stance is the power stance which is why Olympic lifters use. Different stances workout different muscles. There’s no in incorrect way. I prefer the power stance because I like engaging glutes and legs into my deadlift.

This video should have mentioned leverages explicitly. Most of these examples just had people with long legs and comparatively shorter torsos.

I have watched dozens of deadlift videos.  Ive read books.  I’ve been coached in the deadlift.  I’ve tried to deadlift many times ultimately falling back to the rack pull because I just never got it.  This is the best instructional video I’ve ever seen.  “Pushing the floor away” never made sense to me - somehow your explanation clicked.  Im so grateful this popped up in my recommended videos.  Thanks.

I’ve been a personal trainer for 20years and I can’t believe how much I learned from this video about an exercise I thought I was an “expert” at. <br>Thank you!

I have been lifting weights for 40 years and this is the first good explanation for a deadlift I have ever heard.

Everyone has a different relative torso length (hip to shoulder ratio). &nbsp; Therefore the distance from the centre of gravity to the bar is different when squatting ready to lift. &nbsp; Not everyone can slide the bar up the shins. &nbsp;Lose the old school mentality, get rid of the straight bar and use the trap (hex) bar instead. &nbsp; It&apos;s foolproof because the centre of gravity is always in the correct upright plane. &nbsp; And the hands automatically have a safe neutral grip. &nbsp; It&apos;s a no-brainer for modern gym work.

weird, the setup you explained, is exactly how i have always done the deadlift and it has resulted in the worst back issues ever. took me years to fix. the hollowing of the back at setup is a death sentence for the lower back. ive had incredible results by doing the opposite. i guess its not always a cookie cutter setup that can apply to every person on earth. many different body types and limb lengths and torso lenghts
