  Honestly, exactly the same reason that turned Grossman, turned me - Einstein was ok with Spinoza, it made me to go dig about Spinoza, and I concluded to myself that this is to me, the best school of thought.

  I spend a lot of time with scholars in various fields, including paleontology, Physics, Theology, Philosophy, and literature. As a result, although I may not always agree, I always walk away richer from their conversations, having shared their knowledge. Being an autodidact, I didn't have the patience to sit at a desk and suffer through a subject I couldn't care less about. It is programs such as these that I have come to greatly appreciate on YouTube, and its wealth of subjects available. It is a great time to be alive, not to mention having to purchase books, attend lectures, and take extensive travels. YouTube, to this autodidact, is Nirvana.

  I've been drawn to Spinoza's teachings for the past year, but I couldn't distill why. I think Neil and Jeffrey succeeded in distilling Spinoza's contribution to peace of mind in a subtle and precise way. I'm so glad I discovered this channel, this interview and this book😊

  I had a seminar in Uni on Spinoza. &nbsp;Thereafter I meditated over the next 15 years on his work. &nbsp;Especially the short Emmandation of the intellect. &nbsp;The lessons this man extends, although not really diacuased at length in the academic setting, are wholly in line with what i took, from meditation of implications thereafter.<br><br>I haven&apos;t heard him mention, but the role of habituation. &nbsp;But, the formation of belief is built of habituation. &nbsp;Emotions influence Thought and vice versa. &nbsp;That confluence builds a layering and compiling of belief, and habituation to belief, that we use as TRUTH. &nbsp;<br><br>We dont have Truth, only Belief that we use as if. &nbsp;Weed that unruly emotional life, or you will habituate beliefs and ways of living quite contrary to human freedom. &nbsp;<br>The mind is the worst of prisons. &nbsp;Watching others from a young age, I always knew that to be true. &nbsp;Spinoza gave me the structure to interrogate that to a life of balance and peace, one able to give sound advice to others. &nbsp;The most important intellectual, cum spiritual, influence on my life.
