Great list. Only thing he forgot to include is be careful who you marry!! Debt is a pernicious destroyer of wealth and divorce is its ugly cousin.

I have one advice for everyone: don’t buy so much junk. This year I have been buying food and gas only.

Most people chase jackpots
while ignoring the $1–2 million
quietly passing through their hands over a lifetime.

I’m in my 40s. I used to be all about saving money, getting promoted, and climbing the ladder. But a couple years ago I had a serious medical issue—doctors took care of it, but it definitely changed how I think. I’m not really sure what the future looks like, so now I’m wondering if I should focus more on enjoying life now instead of always planning 20 years ahead. 😕

Edit: Thanks everyone, it’s been great to hear how you’re all managing your own situations. I know I’m not the only one going through this. I also got some professional advice to try to do both-enjoy life as much as possible, but also work towards retirement without making 20-30-year plans of retiring a multi millionaire.

1. Your monthly income is the greatest tool you have for building wealth. Harness the power of your payslip to build wealth.
2. Multiple income streams provides you with a financial safety net. One is too close to zero. Doesn't have to pay too much but it all adds up.
3. Consistency matters more than making big moves. Save over the years. Stay the course and avoid unnecesary financial mistakes
4. Basic money management principles that have always worked in the past are stilll the best for getting ahead - avoid lifestyle inflation, avoid consumption debt, save first, live below your means
5. Money can buy your personal freedom or financial independence some day. Buying a new phone is more fun than paying off the mortgage until you have to stay at a jpb you hate
6. Consumption debt is the greatest pernicious destroyer of wealth. It should never have any longterm place in your life. Number one way to free your capital is by paying off your debt.
7.
