Get our book: https://sleepytimehistory.com What if one of the world’s first great monuments was built not by farmers or kings, but by hunter‑gatherers with no cities at all? This video dives into Göbekli Tepe in southeastern Türkiye, a massive 11,000-year-old temple complex that predates ancient Egypt and Sumer. We explore how it was discovered, how its giant T-shaped pillars were carved and moved, what the animal carvings might mean, and why the entire site was deliberately buried. Along the way, we separate solid archaeological evidence from wild speculation, look at how Göbekli Tepe fits into the shift from foraging to farming, and ask who these early builders really were. If you’re interested in ancient history, lost civilizations, early religion, or how monuments helped shape the first farming societies, this is for you. Subscribe to the channel for more deep dives into archaeology, early civilization, and the origins of complex human societies.
