  Since we love Polish food so much we just had to make two dedicated food videos, so that we could try as many dishes as possible! We probably still only scratched the surface, but that just means we'll have to come back in the future! 😊 Let us know in the comments what your favourite Polish dish is!   krokiety are minced meat like in pierogi rolled in polish naleśniki (crepes) dipped in eggs and breadcrumbs and fried. You eat it with either borscht or broth.

  As a kid I remember krokiety with red beet root soup usually around New Years Eve.

  I always dip my krokiets in barszcz. Krokiet in Poland is basicaly a crepe (naleśnik) with savoury filling, panuered in breadcrumbs, egg and deep-fried. <br>My grandmother also serves barszcz with paszteciki, which are little puff pastries with mushroom filing and caraway seeds on top, at least in my house, because Im sure there are other versions, eg. with yeast dough and cabage filling. <br>Polish people also eat barszcz other ways. In a bowl like a proper soup with uszka - lit. &quot;small ears&quot;, little pierogi with cabbage and mushroom filling, that version is especially popualr on Christmass eve. The Christmass barszcz is usually made with dried mushrooms, sour apples, and a lot of garlic , bay leaves , allspice and black pepper, it&apos;s much more spicy then the kind of barszcz they often se on the streets, which is very sweet or with the add of vinegar (which is basicaly cheating, real barszcz has natural acidity).<br>We also eat barszcz with kołduny - other kind of small pierogi, usually with meat. <br>and the barszcz ukraiński - Ukrainian barszcz, usually sweater then classic Polish-one and served with vegetables as potatoes, various beans, dill also sour-cream etc.<br>Btw. while barszcz nowdays is usually associated with the beetroot kind, it lit. means the fermented soup, so Żurek and even ogórkowa - the cucumber soup, are also in the barszcz category and they are called as such in certain Polish regions.<br><br>Chłodnik - the cool soup from beetroots that you tried, is infact the same soup as in Lithuania, it is even called Chłodnik litewski (Lithuanian cool-soup) in Polish. We have many common dishes with Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine, cause we were one country for hundereds years, we eat Ruthenian pierogi from Ukraine, they eat Żurek etc.<br><br>Quark is not cottage cheese! I know thats what google says and thats why eg. Polish people born and raised in America make pierogi ruskie with cottage cheese (Jesus Christ forgive them). Cottage cheese and twaróg (quark) are completely different cheeses in texture and taste. Some Polish guy probably made mistake in translation once and now everyone copies it. Cottage cheese is called serek wiejski (the village cheese) in Poland btw.<br><br>Kiszka ziemniaczana is a banger that even many Polish people never tried or heard about, it is popular especialy in Mazovia and Podlasie regions, so cool that You had opportunity to taste it, while you can get kaszanka - Polish blood sausage almost everywhere in the country and even Polish shops abroad, kiszka ziemniaczana is very rare and delicious.<br><br>Zdrowia

  Lol, I appreciate your courage to actually try Flaki soup :D My friend from Australia almost died when he found out that Flaki soup is made of cow&apos;s stomach. I still remember the pure terror on his face :D Cheers guys
