  You mada a huge mistake with the Vodka. You should have drunk it while eating steak tatare, not while eating sweet apple pie. That's why You felt it was so strong. And one more thing: You're supposed to drink vodka in full shots, throwing it straight down Your throat all at once. Otherwise, it doesn't taste right - it's not a cocktail nor wine.

  One of the most influential queens in Polish history was Queen Bona Sforza, an Italian princess from Milan who married the Polish king in the 16th century. She transformed Polish cuisine by introducing many vegetables that were uncommon in Poland at the time, such as carrots, celery, parsley, leeks, and cabbage.<br><br>Because these vegetables came with the Italian queen, Poles still call this traditional soup-vegetable mix włoszczyzna, which literally means &quot;Italian stuff&quot; or &quot;Italian produce.&quot; It&apos;s a unique word that survives to this day and is a reminder of Queen Bona&apos;s lasting influence on Polish culture and cooking.<br><br>Today, if you buy a bundle of vegetables for making broth in Poland, it&apos;s simply called włoszczyzna—a small piece of Italian history in every Polish kitchen.

  The cheese in the pancake is ordinary Polish white cheese (twaróg), we do not add cottage cheese to pancakes because it is too liquid. It is ground or mixed with a bit of cream to liquefy it, a bit of sugar or vanilla sugar is added, sometimes cinnamon. Who likes whatever. The groats for the roulade are not barley but buckwheat groats, i.e. buckwheat seeds (roasted).
