Thanks for elegant, economical design. I'm working out same problem for as little dedicated rip saw. Splitting the 4" line presented the same problem. My solution is to connect saw cabinet to main 4" (high volume) line and, to avoid splitting, use dedicated shop vac (high velocity) for overhead hood.

You need a gas strut to raise and lower the guard. That would make the movement one hand. Using that lock,means two hands and you have to change position.

It’s a bonus to have above the blade dust extraction but after experimenting with these types of arrangements I find them cumbersome and even prevents the freedom to use my push sticks the way I would like. I’m 3-D printing a flush mount tabletop chute with Magswitch holdowns to catch some of that dust. I’ll see how it goes.

Love your videos, BTW. Just checking if there's a set-up and demo of Balladonia hand mitre saw? Seems to be a slight copy of Nobex, but I'm not at liberty to purchase the $500++ type saws just yet. Thanks again... your stuff is bloody brilliant. 😊
