The more objectively excellent a speaker is, the more that they confuse this man. Lol

As we age unfortunately our hearing degrades, especially high frequencies, 99% of reviewers probably have not had their hearing checked, I’m over 50, had my hearing checked a couple years ago and I’m unable to hear anything over 13k. My recommendations is for all hifi reviewers get your hearing checked, especially if you are reviewing headphones

If you've ever spent time with expensive studio monitors for stereo playback you know they can be irritating. That's because they are designed to be neutral, unveiling everything in the track. KEF has found a way to both measure great and not offend our ears the way studio monitors do. This is brilliant engineering IMHO.

I have these speakers set up to my Marantz NR1510 5.0 system with a Schiit Vidar 2 power amp with KEF Q 6 center and KEF rear speakers. I like them for that setup. I don't use that for 2 channel music listening much, I use PS Audio Stellar Strata MK1 with PS Audio Aspen FR5 speakers for that. I haven't tried the KEF Concerto Meta with the 2 channel setup yet but may try sometime in the future.

Objective data clearly shows that all of the output above 8khz is there with these speakers and at the appropriate level compared to the output below 8 khz. Therefore, we have to assume that your hearing above 8 khz isn't linear. Don't get me wrong. I'm months away from 60 years old and I miss being able to hear well above 10 khz, so I'm saying "welcome to the club". Here's the cool thing though, and I think you are missing this: It's better to have a speaker with linear output that works well in most rooms (which these speakers have, and do) and then EQ the speaker to your taste. Considering how easy it is to apply PEQ these days, you can take a linear speaker and make up for your hearing loss pretty easily.

I had the Q950's They were fatiguing because of that metallic upper midrange spike and yes they roll off after that and lacked airyness.
