  The 2900 Hz tweeter crossover was most likely chosen based on polar response, as opposed to simply utilizing the tweeter down to it&apos;s lowest capable frequency. &nbsp;Measure the polar response of the mid driver and tweeter individually and look for the crossover frequency and slope that will provide the smoothest transition in the polar pattern. &nbsp;This is what the Kef engineers would have done and this is what probably lead to the 2900 Hz crossover choice.<br><br>The purpose of the separate enclosure for the mid driver is to prevent it from becoming a very improperly tuned passive radiator for the low frequency driver. &nbsp;The speaker doesn&apos;t just sound better because of it, the speaker basically wouldn&apos;t work without it, at least not for very long, the mid driver would be destroyed without this separate enclosure. <br><br>There should be more of this, it&apos;s good for people to see what they are getting under the hood and there aren&apos;t many channels doing this kind of video. &nbsp;Great job!

  I have the q11 tower and they are great, had the concerto for a bit but needed more for my space and the q11 is fantastic. I think I’m going to do an air coil inductor upgrade, jantzen superior cap for the highs and some no rez for the cabinets. Switch out those binding posts and do new internal wiring. Hoping this should get me close to an r11 or maybe better in some ways for 1/4 the price haha

  I have a new appreciation for your tear downs after doing one of my own speakers to check for a problem. &nbsp;Turned out I was in the wrong terminal on my AVR!

  It&apos;s the 39uF Cap .That single Swap with a Cross cap or a summ of two ,would be &nbsp;the most revealing Mod ...And of course the 4.7uF for the Tweeter ... As long as you don&apos;t put in more than 10 watts ,the Inductors won&apos;t saturate .

  Great review! Great teardown!! You can try upgrading the crossover with Cornel Dubilier 940c as a bypass capacitor for every electrolyte one. In my experience they bring welcome change to KEF speakers. Also if exchanging the electrolyte caps ....Mundorf Evo Oil or Supreme are very interesting choice+ Cornel Dubilier 940c as a bypass again.....
