  I always thought my dog understood everything I said… turns out I might be the one speaking wrong. This really changed how I see communication. 🐶

  My dog is so smart it’s scary sometimes. I know he’s listening to everything and can understand a lot. His favorite words are chicken bird, go, night night and “I love you.”

  My second dog in my 2-dog household was badly neglected for his last 9 months &nbsp;( and physically mistreated longer) and is very reluctant to come when called, even though he clearly understands it. Thanks to you, he will henceforth be rewarded by a small treat. Of course, my first dog will have to be rewarded as well.<br>Thanks, guys. Quincy and Xandy (Xander) send their thanks as well

  My two dogs know their names very well and each other’s names. They also know walk, treat, snack, Doritos, bath, sit, outside, eat, breakfast, supper, bed, wait, leave it, just to name the most common used and recognized. They come to get me when it’s time for their morning and evening meals and their evening snack. One of them shows her teeth and mouths what sometimes sounds like words, lol, when it’s evening snack time.

  Love how you highlight prosody and context. Once I made our cues short and consistent—“yes,” “with me,” “leave it,” “find it,” and “all done”—my dog started responding even when I whisper. Clarity + repetition beats volume every time.

  I find that if you train your puppy with not only commands but also accompanied with hand signals, you can actually use one hand signals as well. Pretty cool to see.

  The part about the word &apos;Come&apos; being a representation of trust rather than just obedience really hit me. It’s so easy to get frustrated when they don&apos;t listen immediately, but realizing it’s based on our entire history together makes me want to be so much more patient. Such a great perspective!
