  I  actually find it pretty offensive that some people think when someone is having a mental break they should be acting crazy, licking walls, wearing a tinfoil hat, mumbling incoherently whilst not being able to perform even basic functions. Most of the time that's not the reality. It's called masking. Think of a Swan... on the surface they're serene and calm, but underneath their feet are kicking like mad just to stay afloat.

  A collegue of mine died by suicide while experiencing post-partum psychosis. She also had 3 kids and her youngest was 3 months old. She had it with the first two and it got worse after her second child. Her husband didnt want any more kids because it was so bad for her. She was a social worker in elementary school and her husband was also very involved. When regulated, never would she have hurt herself but with the PP psychosis, she was planful, deceptive and deliberate in her suicide plan. She parked on the railroad tracks but left her husband the minivan because she knew he would need it. She snuck out of the house to do it. It rocked the social work community in our town. Her husband talked about the diagnosis and how much we dont know about treating it. Plus so much shame for mom's to talk about having intrusive thoughts about hurting our kids. I had intrusive thoughts like that when my son was a toddler and tried to get help but didnt have the right insurance. Thank God I had wome to talk to and hook me up with other women. The defense attorney did a fantastic job with his opening. This poor woman and her husband. Its so very sad.

  A lot of the suicidal cases , relatives report that people seem more happy and normal than usual

  Hearing the state say this isn't a debate about women's mental health and then hearing EVERYTHING the defense brought up that she went through was crazy

  This makes me so angry. When you are depressed and have kids you plaster on a smile and push through. You don’t sit on the floor to play with them and slobber cry all over them. Half the time people are depressed and suicidal their family members don’t know it. You never know how someone is feeling behind the smile they give you.

  I was married to a man who became paranoid schizophrenic. He could mask auditory & visual hallucinations. My heart breaks for every one involved in this case.

  3 kids in 5 years for someone who is struggling with mental health issues is wild to me. I will never understand it.

  The defense attorney saying the prosecution are holding onto the fact that  "because she wasn't catatonic, wasn't drooling" that she wasn't mentally ill was powerful to me. Demonstrated very well when the prosecution questioned Patrick, went over so many photos etc.

  The prosecutor really made me angry when she cut off Patric when he explained why some of those prescriptions were not very used. If you are not railroading her then why conduct yourself in court like you are. If only half of the truth proves your case then maybe you don’t have a good case.

  Absolutely infuriating to hear the prosecution try to claim that because she was “participating” in life- she wasn’t struggling. Depression is a life long struggle for me. And you learn to fake it until you make it. Because I’m attending a dinner and conversing with family does NOT mean my mind isn’t reeling.
