  Thank you Ms. Chloe for your uploads and sharing your honest perspective.  I remember watching Aleese's upload about her life in China when it first came out, and it was very eye-opening.  I am thankful for people like you and Aleese who try to open people's eyes to what life is really like outside of the US.

  Yea. I taught university English here in Hangzhou. I lived on campus for free, which means I was saving enough money for years! A university job is the lowest paying teaching position in China though. The big money is kindergarten (if you’ve got enough energy to deal with those kids)

  Teachers are well respected in China. Throughout history, minus the cultural revolution nonsense,  they were revered.

  I’ve followed Aleese since covid lockdown, when she was just starting out on YouTube vlogs in China. She was pretty candid about kinda struggling psychologically and emotionally in Beijing due to a new environment, culture and language barrier. But moving Chengdu seemed to have helped and being able to speak and understand Chinese a bit better further helped. She seems to have finally settled in fairly comfortably these days

  This is my first time seeing your video. My first trip to China will be May 2027. From America visiting Hong Kong, shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Shanghai. My plan is to start visiting every year. I’m learning Chinese mandarin. Maybe I could teach English if my mandarin gets good enough 🤞🏽

  She recently uploaded her mom visiting her. They took a day trip to Shanghai together, and I think this was the second time because last year she posted a similar short, and focused more on the culture shocks like for example her mom not understanding why people pay to cook their own food aka hot pot 😂<br><br>Regarding skin color, if you go a couple provinces South to Yunnan, there are a couple of ethnicities, the Dai and Wa, that have naturally dark skin that they want to darken further because to them dark skin is beautiful and/or good luck. One of them even celebrates a festival where they rub black powder or black dye all over each other. This is not shared by the ethnic supermajority, but they respect the cultural difference. 1% of Chinese also have naturally curly hair, so every once in awhile you&apos;ll run to a 100% Chinese person who looks either mixed or even Latino lol

  It&apos;s good to see foreigners taking a leap and move to Asia. It is definitely daunting but also rewarding at least from a personal growth point of view. Now you can relate to all of us Asians moving abroad and how we felt. Enjoy the journey.
