You both were so respectful in your silence during this video. I nod to that!

If you notice, the actual guards (with the exception of the Sergeant) do not wear rank insignias. This is because the guard is not allowed to outrank any of the unknown soldiers.

The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns is a VERY serious ceremony, and being there for it is an honor and a privilege.

Guarding the tomb of men that sacrificed their lives, without recognition, without flare and hype, is the ultimate honor. God bless these men and the men that laid down their lives.

The tomb is guarded has been under constant guard since 1921 -- with changes of the guard every hour in the fall and winter and every half hour in the spring and summer. Nearly 1.4 million guard changes have taken place since its opening. And those guards will absolutely shoot you dead if you try to harm them or the tomb in any way.

As an American, the Changing of the Guard is one of the most moving experiences of my life.

Y'all are so much more respectful of America than a lot of Americans are.

As an American, you should cry watching this or hearing Taps. What this represents is what makes America great. Not loud, not full of braggadocio, and always faithful to our Constitution.

One thing you may not have noticed is that the guards always have their rifle on the shoulder facing the crowd. This is deliberate as it indicates that they are guarding the fallen from "enemies".

Snow... blizzard....wind.... hurricane... they still perform their guard.

I've seen it twice in my lifetime and would go pay my respect again.

This is America's most sacred shrine, and as far as I know, the only shrine that says "you are on hallowed grounds"

They do the changing of the guard every hour during the Winter and every half hour during the Summer. The ceremony only happens when the cemetery is open to the public starting at 7 AM. At night the guard stands guard in the green booth.
