One other thing to keep in mind is that in the recent months or even years Colombia has been very stingy when it comes to visa terms both for new visas and renewals. Some retirees reporting as little as 7 months. Not only it's the same circus every time to apply/renew, but there is also a follow up circus with getting the CE for each new visa. I get the impression Colombia doesn't want people coming in at this time.
